Privacy Policy
Effective July 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information NovaBrief collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using NovaBrief, you agree to this Policy.
Information We Collect
- Account information โ your email address, name (if provided), sign-in provider (Apple, Google, or email), and account identifiers.
- Your preferences โ the topics, sources, and entities you follow; onboarding goals; notification and briefing settings.
- Usage & engagement โ reactions (๐/๐), which stories you open or bookmark, and basic in-app interaction events, used to personalize your briefings.
- Location โ if you provide it, your general location (city/region) to include local weather and relevant context. This is optional.
- Device information โ a push-notification token and standard device/app details needed to deliver notifications.
- Subscription status โ whether you have an active trial or subscription. Payments are processed by Apple; we do not collect or store your payment-card details.
- Diagnostics โ when something goes wrong in the app, we record the technical details of the error (error message, the screen or request involved, your platform and app version, and a shortened account identifier) so we can find and fix it. We do not include the contents of your briefings or Ask Nova conversations in these reports.
- Launch waitlist โ if you join the waitlist on novabrief.ai, we collect your email address solely to notify you about NovaBrief's availability. Every waitlist email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can request deletion at any time via the contact below.
How We Use Your Information
- To curate and deliver your personalized news briefings and notifications.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To power Ask Nova and briefing summaries (see "AI Processing" below).
- To manage subscriptions and provide customer support.
AI Processing
To generate briefings and answer your Ask Nova questions, relevant content and the messages you send are processed by our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude). Do not include sensitive personal information in Ask Nova messages.
Third-Party Services
We share limited information with service providers that help us operate the Service, including:
- Apple โ Sign in with Apple and App Store subscription processing.
- Google โ Sign in with Google.
- Google Firebase / Cloud โ authentication and database storage.
- RevenueCat โ subscription management and entitlement tracking.
- Anthropic โ AI generation (briefings and Ask Nova).
- Kit โ email delivery for the launch waitlist (website signups only).
- NewsAPI.ai โ news article sourcing.
- Finnhub and Yahoo Finance โ market and stock data (for tickers you follow).
- Mapbox โ geocoding a city you type, to localize your news.
- OpenWeather โ weather data (if you provide a location).
- Expo โ push-notification delivery.
- Cloudflare โ hosting for our website, and privacy-first website analytics (aggregate page views and referrers on novabrief.ai only โ no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and not used in the app).
We do not sell your personal information.
If you choose to share a Nova take or an Ask Nova conversation, the content you share is published to a public web page that anyone with the link can view. Do not share anything you consider private. These pages ask search engines not to index them, but we cannot guarantee a page that has been linked elsewhere stays out of search results.
When anyone opens a shared NovaBrief link โ including people who do not use the app โ we log basic technical details of that visit (browser user-agent and the referring page, if any) to count how often shared links are opened. We do not use cookies or trackers on these pages, and we do not use this to build a profile of the visitor.
Data Retention & Your Choices
We retain your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account, which permanently removes your account and associated data (briefings, follows, and bookmarks). You may also contact us to access or correct your information.
Some data is deleted automatically on a schedule, whether or not you delete your account: diagnostic/error records are removed within about 30 days, and short-lived operational records used to avoid sending you duplicate notifications are removed within about 48 hours.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
NovaBrief is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their information.
International Users
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
